Ordering a Massage Should Be Like Ordering Tacos

You know how you can walk into El Chilito and order a Cherrywood taco just how it comes—chef’s choice, so to speak—or tweak it to your liking? “Hold the cilantro, sub refried beans, extra salsa on the side.” Or maybe you're more of a Starbucks person: “Tall, half-caf cappuccino with oat milk, extra foam, just a drizzle of caramel.” Believe it or not, your massage therapy session with me can work exactly the same way.

When you're coming in for relief from headaches, jaw pain, or body tension, it’s completely normal not to know exactly how to get there. That’s where I come in. Just like a skilled barista or taco wizard, I know the ingredients at hand (aka, your muscles and nervous system) and can guide you. You state your goal, and we create the path together.

If you have a discerning palate—whether for food or bodywork—you already know the difference between something bland and something thoughtful, layered, and refined. I work with clients who won’t settle for a cookie-cutter massage. You might be someone who walks into a Michelin-starred restaurant and says, “Just give me the chef’s tasting menu”—or someone who requests a precisely plated dish with every preference honored. Your massage can reflect that same level of intentionality and care.

Feeling adventurous? Go full chef’s choice and say something like:

“Whatever you need to do to get rid of this headache or jaw pain.”

Or you can be more like the custom-order crowd. Maybe something like:

“I want full-body work that feels flowing and connected, with firm pressure—but I really want my low back to feel better after.”
“Sinus pressure relief please, and can we include facial cupping and soft palate work?”
“Can we skip the front of my legs and instead use that time for intraoral jaw work?”

And you can set clear preferences or boundaries:

“No talking during the session, please.”
“At the end, can we do extra facial and scalp work? And yes, oil in the hair is okay.”
“Let’s skip any belly work today, and please avoid the sides of my neck—those are no-touch zones for me.”

Don’t worry if you’re not sure what to ask for at the beginning—this isn’t a one-and-done order. You can always speak up during the session if something needs adjusting or if you realize mid-massage that your calves are really asking for some attention.

If it’s your first time, you don’t need to know the lingo or the muscle names—I’ve got you. Just tell me what you’re feeling, or what you’d like to feel differently, and we’ll build from there.

Everything is optional. Don’t want oil in your hair? No problem. Curious about facial cupping but not ready to try intraoral work? Totally fine. I can also note any no-touch zones you’d like to avoid for comfort or personal preference. Your massage experience is always built around what feels right and safe to you.

Whether you want to walk out feeling looser, clearer-headed, breathing easier, or just plain more human, I’ll get you there—your way.

Book your session now and tell me your taco—I mean, massage—order.
