Sometimes my office morphs into a sewing studio. I just finished sewing down the design on Darcy's 9 year old birthday shirt. Applique takes a lot of eye focus and small shoulder / hand movements. My tip that you can apply in different places is to look at your alignment, if bad, see what you can adjust.
Here, I use my massage stool because it can go up and down quite a bit. Sometimes I need over my machine, sometimes I need to look at the presser foot. Moving the stool and not my shoulders keeps me out of pain. I also get an easy rotation from the stool - NOT from my spine or shoulder girdle. Need to work on something to the right of the machine? ROLL there, not reach or lean.
This is why we have long conversations about what you do for fun and work. Are there things to adjust to work smarter and keep you out of pain?
PS - Happy birthday, Darcy! You keep doing you!
